How to create a new academic year and set term dates on Sematime Finances
Academic year 2023 is coming to an end and you now need to promote students into their 2024 classes. To do that, you need to create a new academic year then have the system automatically create the all the 2024 classes for you.
To get started, go the 'Home' view menu and select 'Settings' then open the 'Academic years' section as shown below.
Click on the 'New Academic Year' button and enter the name for this new year. For example, year 2024 or 2024/2025 depending on or school curriculum needs.
In the page that follows, you will need to input the start and end dates of the year then specify the same for each term or semester. You may also specify school breaks such as mid term holidays among others. Remember to click 'Save Changes' to finish.
The system will automatically create the new year classes for you to enroll students, teachers and create lessons from.
To delete an academic year, simply click the 'X' button next to the name.
Deleting an academic year removes all the invoices, payments, class lists, fee statements and finance reports created during the period. This process is not reversible.
