How to generate and download the 'message logs' report
You may want to first check the article on Understanding SMS message delivery reports for a quick rundown of the various reports available from your Sematime account and how to access them on your user interface.
The message logs tell you what happened to the SMS you sent, whether it was successfully delivered or failed to be delivered. They also provide timestamps, network information if available, and on SMS delivery failure, a status indicating the reason.
You want to begin by specifying the duration of the report you want to generate by clicking the '**Filter by Date**' button as highlighted with the red arrow. By default, the system shows your last 3 months report.
For starters, Sematime shows you a summary of the insights derived from your message logs:
Messages delivery statuses - shows a summary of the statuses for all messages sent by your account. For example, the image above shows that 85.53% of all messages sent to parents were delivered successfully.
Top reasons why messages fail - shows the reasons given for all the messages sent but failed to be received by your parents.
How fast as messages delivered - shows the time taken for parents to receive your messages. In the image above, it is apparent that 85.88% of the parents received messages within 30 seconds after sending.
Time taken to deliver messages - shows the cumulative time it has taken each mobile network provider to deliver your messages to parents.
Going further down the report, you will see a detailed breakdown of all the messages you have sent in the selected duration. Not every data is shown by default so be sure to click the 'little settings icon' highlighted on the image below to choose more columns. To print the report or do further analysis, click the 'Download' button to export it into an Excel file.
